Help for the Homeless in Harrisburg Pennsylvania

Home

Welcome to our new Website!! Isaiah 61 serves as a Homeless Ministry in Dauphin County Pennsylvania.  Isaiah 61 Ministries’ mission is to be God’s hands and feet in this world by showing His love through our actions. We want everyone that we serve to know God loves them and cares for all of their needs.

SAM_0550God has opened many doors for Isaiah 61 and it’s ministry growth. Most recently with the purchase of a new facility in Halifax Pennsylvania. Since it’s opening in October 2013, many different ministries have sprouted and taken root.  This facility has provided us the opportunity to glorify God by now serving hot meals twice a week to our community in the Upper Dauphin area. Each Monday and Thursday our van leaves around 5pm to pick up those in the Halifax and Millersburg areas that need a ride to our soup kitchen. Additionally, this facility now houses a full sized clothing bank available to anyone in need.

With the opening of our main office facility, we now have a home for another incredible ministry known as “Lifegroup”.  Each week our team picks up men from the men’s work release center in Harrisburg, along with some of our homeless friends as well so that we can “Do life together”.  Just as Jesus and his disciples did life together- so do we. We study the word of God each week, with a focus on how we can make each lesson a part of our life. We are not only a support group, but an accountability group as well.  Our lifegoup has done some amazing things such as trips to Washington DC, Winter Jam, Witness festival, Joyce Meyers Conferences and various state parks. Our goal with lifegroup is many fold with the first being to glorify God.  We also seek to combat recidivism along with our hurts-our habits and our hang-ups.

We provide meals to the homeless Tuesday and Wednesday evenings behind the courthouse in Harrisburg PA.  Additionally, we provide toiletries, clothing, new shoes, quality of life items, and will help purchase non-narcotic life sustaining medications with a valid script. Besides providing for physical needs we believe the most important things we share with those we serve are the friendships formed, advocacy, and spiritual support. It is amazing how God has allowed this ministry to partner with amazing people and awesome groups. This includes the PA Foodbank, Highmark, Transcend Church and many others.

For those needing spiritual support we are always here to pray for you.  We are supported by many pastors and always seek sound biblical guidance for ourselves and our friends on the streets. Most service days, a pastor is on our mission team.  On sundays, we pick up anyone that wants to attend church. Our pickup site is right behind the Courthouse in downtown Harrisburg.  Just look for the Big Black Van at around 10:00am.

Our homeless ministry and soup kitchen are always accepting donations of Bibles, blankets, new shoes, toiletries, socks, t-shirts, underwear, flashlights, batteries and food items.  For more information on service opportunities please visit our “Volunteering Menu” above and send us message.  Thanks for taking the time to visit!
